Your body is not broken - its out of sync.
There’s something I hear almost every day in clinic. Women sitting across from me — often a little exhausted, sometimes emotional, sometimes just quietly overwhelmed — saying things like: “I’m so tired, but I can’t switch off,” or “I just don’t feel like myself,” or “everything feels a bit all over the place.” I get it. I’ve been there too.
But here’s what I’ve come to understand, through my own journey and through working with so many women: this isn’t random, and it’s not failure. Your body is communicating with you. It’s telling you that the rhythm it naturally wants to move in has been disrupted.
We live in a world that pulls us further from that rhythm every day. The pressure to push through, to override what we feel, to stay up later and wake up earlier than we’re ready for. Over time, that disconnection builds. And eventually, the body speaks louder.
You are part of nature. Not separate from it.
The body isn’t a machine that needs managing. It’s much closer to nature. It moves in cycles, in waves, in seasons. This is something Traditional Chinese Medicine has understood for centuries: we are not separate from the natural world. The same elements that exist around us exist within us.
The Five Element theory speaks to this through Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. Each element carries a different quality of energy and essence. When they’re balanced, there’s ease. Clarity. Steadiness. Energy where you need it, rest when you don’t. But when one element falls out of balance, it shows up in ways that can feel confusing or frustrating.
The Five Elements and what they are telling you
Wood energy is about movement and direction, that part of you that wants to grow, create change, move forward. When it’s flowing, you feel motivated and clear. When it’s not, it shows up as frustration, irritability, or that maddening sense of doing so much and going nowhere. I see this a lot in women who are giving everything to everyone else and running dry.
Fire energy is connected to the heart, to joy, to your ability to feel open and present. When Fire is balanced, there’s warmth and lightness. When it’s not, hello anxiety, restlessness, and emotional ups and downs that are hard to settle. That exhausting feeling of being “on” all the time without ever feeling calm within it.
Earth energy is your groundedness, your sense of being held. When Earth is strong, you can process what’s happening around you with steadiness. When it’s depleted, you’re overthinking, worrying, and carrying a heaviness that makes everything feel like too much.
Metal energy is quieter but vital. It governs your ability to let go of emotions, situations, self-criticism. When balanced, there’s clarity and breath. When not, you find yourself replaying conversations, holding on, or caught in a cycle of not feeling good enough.
Water energy is your foundation. Your reserves. Your nervous system’s capacity to feel safe. When Water is full, there’s calm and deep inner trust. When it’s depleted — and for so many women it is — burnout, fatigue and fear take hold. This is the one I see most often in women who have been running on empty for far too long.
Your daily rhythm matters more than you think
Alongside the elements, your body follows a daily rhythm; your circadian clock, guiding when you wake, when you feel alert, when you need to slow down and rest. It’s designed to follow the natural rhythm of light and dark. The challenge is that most of us are living far from that cycle: artificial light late into the night, constant stimulation, eating at irregular times, no space to actually feel what we’re feeling.
When that happens, symptoms appear. And this is where I always return to the same truth: symptoms are not the problem. They’re the body speaking. Fatigue is the body asking for rest. Anxiety is energy that hasn’t had the chance to move. Digestive discomfort can reflect overwhelm. Emotional reactions — yours and your children’s — can be a sign that the nervous system is at capacity.
And this ripples into your children too
Kids are incredibly in tune with rhythm. They thrive with consistency and emotional safety. When that’s disrupted, it shows up fast as more meltdowns, more sensitivity, difficulty settling. And something I always hold gently: children don’t just respond to what we say or do. They respond to how we feel.
When a mum begins to come back into her own rhythm — to regulate her nervous system, to feel supported within herself — things begin to shift within the whole family. Naturally. Quietly. Powerfully.
Returning to rhythm doesn’t require a life overhaul
It’s not about doing everything perfectly. It’s about small, consistent shifts. A few minutes of morning light. A more consistent sleep pattern. Sitting down to eat rather than rushing. Letting your evenings slow. Giving yourself actual space to feel and release.
This is also where kinesiology offers beautiful support, because sometimes it’s not just about what you’re doing day to day. It’s about what your body is holding underneath. Stored stress, unprocessed emotions, patterns that have built up over time. In a session, we work with the body to gently release those layers and bring things back into flow in a way that feels safe.
Ready to experience this is person?
If something in this has resonated. If you’ve been feeling like your rhythm is lost, like you’re running on empty, like you’ve forgotten who you are outside of all your roles, I want to tell you about something I’ve created just for you.

Your rhythm is still there
If you’ve been feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or just not quite yourself, it doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong. It’s often just a sign that your body is ready to come back into balance. Not through force or pressure. Through reconnection.
Coming back to your body. To your breath. To your natural rhythm. Because that rhythm is already there within you. It hasn’t gone anywhere. It’s just waiting for you to return to it.
From my Heart to Yours
